Site Design & Management

I can design your site and provide hosting, put it online for you and keep it up and running with whatever level of input and updating you choose. I can add or subtract to your site as either your market or your inventory changes. I can insert news articles or just headlines or add scripts to do this automatically. I can add new information or make changes to existing pages or just change your welcome message or artwork to reflect the seasons or your mood. I can do it all for you or help you get set up with a site you can take over and handle on your own.

Domain Registration and Set Up

I can register a domain for you and take charge of all that is involved in setting up a host and installing the complete web site. I can set you up with multiple email addresses and either supply you with the tools to keep your pages updated and manage your email addresses or I can take care of those details for you as you go along.

Viral and Malware Extermination

In all cases: We will come to your home or office and assess what the situation with your computer is in its current installation, on site. Depending on the result of our assessment we will then either proceed with Option A or B.

If you already have a host for your web-site, we will work with you and use that one if you prefer. Our HTML/CSS sites are compatible with any server and will run on any host with modern equipment. Our CMS sites are more server-side intensive and require minimum requirements for the server they will run on. However, most modern hosting companies meet those minimum requirements.

Fake Facebook Email Contains Virus

An email carrying a virus and masquerading as an email from the Facebook Site went around early in the year and it appears to have morphed a little and be circulating once more with a particularly nasty piece of malware in the attachment (Win32/Cryptor). If you get an email with headers similar to the following, do NOT open the attachment, delete it from your computer without opening it.

From: "The Facebook Team" < This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it >
Subject: Facebook Password Reset Confirmation! Important Message
Attached file name: Facebook_Support_57034.zip

There are a few important points you want to remember here.

Neither Facebook nor any other reputable site would ever use this kind of method to reset and send out new passwords.
If you received this email and your installed anti-virus didn't alert you to the threat, you need to install a better anti-virus and make sure it is configured to scan all incoming emails.
If you receive any emails like this with an attachment that you didn't request and you aren't sure what is in it, simply make it a habit to not open it. You will very rarely get "something for nothing" and it is a sure bet that if you do get something for nothing via email it will be something you did NOT want.

If you aren't happy with your anti-virus and computer security programs, there are a number of good ones on the market that will protect your computer without draining all the computer resources that you would rather have to actually use yourself.

Our personal favorite is ESET Smart Security which combines a virus, anti-spyware and firewall into one suite of programs without hogging all your resources to run. It is not free, but it is very reasonably priced (less than $90 for two years protection) and has a generous trial period.

If you want even cheaper but still effective security, AVG has a free for home use antivirus that works well on a reasonably powerful computer. If you turn off the "Resident Shield" it uses even less resources and should run t any computer you install it on with Windows XP or newer Operating Systems.

There are many others and I'm sure many other people would give you completely different suggestions but the point is you need something that is effective, kept up to date and current and that works well enough without bogging down your computer so that you will continue to use it. Allowing your computer to become infected with malware not only compromises your own security and the safety of your personal information but it runs the risk of compromising those that you communicate with the most. Almost all malware is clever enough to replicate itself and spread to other computers, and some is clever enough to morph itself as it moves through other computers making spreading it easier and getting rid of it a more trying task.

How We Establish Your Image

If you want to start from scratch, often the color scheme is the best place to begin. First we work with you to create a co-ordinated palette for you. If you already have "signature colors", we can help you expand that into a full palette to use throughout the website to give your web presence continuity.

Secure Set-Up and Installation

We do on-site assessment of malware or viral infections. We will come to your home or office and assess the problems with any computer or network and give you good solid advice on how to proceed.

If your computer needs time consuming multiple scans, we can take it back to our "lab" so we can run those scans without having to charge you for all the time it takes to let the scans do their work. We keep up to date on the latest malware released "in the wild" and have a full arsenal of tools at our disposal to root out and defeat the toughest of computer infections.

Static Sites (HTML)

If it will fit your needs, the least expensive option for a web presence can undoubtedly be a static HTML site. Don't misunderstand, the term "static site" simply means the pages themselves are created and stored on the server and then the user's browser calls up the entire "static" page when it visits the site. A "static HTML site" can still have lots of interesting features, slide shows, and even flash or video features,

Pricing for static HTML sites is fairly straightforward. Like most design companies, we charge per page and then give you an "a la carte" choice of a number of extras..

Content Management Sites (CMS)

Content Management Sites, or CMS, are so flexible, dynamic and scalable that it is impossible to set static prices. If you are interested in a CMS site (and if you want a cutting edge site with maximum flexibility you should really consider one) we will work with you and follow a basic workflow to arrive at a firm contract and price based on the site you want created before we begin.

We will meet with you, find out exactly what you have in mind, work up a mock-up and design ideas, present that to you, set a price for the project, sign a contract with you and move ahead with the design.
